Sorry if there is already a thread on this, but I could not locate one.
2011 Pilot, no running boards. The front tires sling up everything from the road, mud, rocks, metal objects, etc that hits the lower portion of the doors. Thankfully the rear edge behind the rear door has the clear plastic covering. We did not even have the car for two weeks and a metal object scuffed the clear protective covering and doesn't buff out....leaves a dark mark on the Diamond white paint. Are there any accessories or other tips to keep the lower doors from getting hit with all of this stuff? The factory running boards make the step in too far for my wife (its her vehicle). Are there genuine Honda mud flaps that will provide greater protection? Any other thoughts? Aftermarket accessories? Thanks, Dave |

Good question Need4Speed. My wife returned from a trip 30 miles from home. There was dried "cement" coated from the front wheel to the rear bumper. There was some road repair where they were cutting groves into the concrete on the interstate. Water cools the cutter and keeps the dust down, but the slurry was running down hill across the lane that was open. On the very bottom section of the door it is 1/16th of an inch thick. Dried and hard, with some cracking. Where it was lighter I was able to soak off with vinegar and a sponge. While that method also seems to work on the the thick layer it is painfully slow. Took about 10 minutes to remove a few square inches. It's on both sides of the vehicle too!
Suggestions for a qucker way to remove are welcomed! |

Usually the front comes with mud flaps but if not I'd install them all around. You might also look into different side rail or side step options.
