Upgraded like an idiot to find that now when I connect my phone it works for about 30 seconds then gives "unsupported.". Anyone else getting this?

If you're running off the previous "pairing" between the pilot and the phone, delete the entry and re-pair the phone to the pilot. The bluetooth stack on the iOS should not have changed since it's an established standard. If that doesn't work, you may be stuck with their "genius" support, which I've found to be closer to retarded. Unfortunately, Honda admits that their bluetooth system isn't compatible with all devices (and their software variations), so if Apple is going in a new direction, it could mean switching to an Android phone.
Last case scenario, if you really want to keep using the iPhone, either regress the iOS to the previous version, or see if the Honda MusicLink will handle phone calls over the cable.Standard testing procedures would indicate you verify the bluetooth in the iPhone still works with other devices before concluding that the Pilot alone cannot pair correctly to it. So try some other bluetooth devices out (headsets) and see if they work, then re-pair the phone to the Pilot and give it another try. Last edited by scampcat; 03-14-2011 at 11:30 AM. |

I should have been more clear.
The problem I'm having is actually not Bluetooth. It's when I use the charging cable to connect the iPhone to the stereo to listen to music. Once I connect it, about 30 seconds later I get an "Unsupported" message on the headunit. For those 30 seconds, everything works as it used to (I can stream audio just fine). I'm not sure if this is the problem, but when I upgraded, apparently it didn't re-sync any of my music back onto the phone (weird) so my iPod library on the phone is empty...although I don't see why that would cause this error. Any ideas? It would really suck to lose this functionality. I love that I can connect the iPhone to my system and have the playlist, etc, show up on the nav screen.

Did you try to respring, or do a hard restart to your iPhone. The same exact thing happened to my iphone, although it's in 4.1, 'bout 2 days ago. I was streaming Pandora and the unsupported messg came up, I just disconnected it and did a simlple respring and the phone was fine after.
I've had the unsupported message come up about a dozen times now, with all kinds of diff. ipod's and iphone's over the time I owned my Pilot |

I've had it come up too before, and normally just a reset will get it going. That's not happening here. I'm hoping that after I go home and get some media on there it will go away. Maybe the Pilot just errors if it can't find any songs loaded....I hope.

Seems that the sync after upgrade must have somehow screwed something up. I originally thought that the original sync wiped out my library (no songs were showing in the iPod list), but when I re-synced I noticed that the "free space" showed that I actually did have the songs on there but something was corrupt somewhere. After the sync, which took about 30 seconds, everything is back to normal. It was really weird, I'm not sure why the first one didn't work, but even more odd was that I would get "Unsupported" after having the iPhone connected for 30 seconds even if I didn't try to play anything.
I stream from Flycast and some other apps as well. Works great! Generally to get it to work I have to start the streaming AFTER I've connected to the Pilot. If I have it streaming before, it just starts playing my music once it connects.

TriKKy - I have the same issue. Was driving my wife's new '11 Pilot Touring and was looking forward to hooking up my iphone 3gs. Unfortunately I get the same "unsupported" error. I'll keep searching for a solution and will post. Very frustrating.

We just bought a minivan for more brood so I was handed my wife's 2010 Touring Pilot. I was initially good with the 'transaction' when I saw that some postings were reporting Pandora streaming via USB, but very disappointed now. Pandora streaming via the Aux is TERRIBLE sound quality--very tinny, poor base, blah, blah. Just got rid of a 2003 Audi, where it sounded great using Ice-Link integration. Hopefully someone discovers a mechanism on here to rectify this here.

Ok, so yesterday I was determined to make the Iphone 3gs work. By the way, I was concerned that because my Iphone is jailbroken that this could have an effect on connectivity. First, I rebooted the iphone. Second, after rebooting, I went through the pairing steps (setup + pair). Took me a couple of tries but finally paired the phone. NOTE: UP TO THIS POINT I HAD NOT CONNECTED THE PHONE TO THE USB PORT. Once the phone paired, I then connected it to the USB port. I clicked the AUX button and Iphone was up and running. I then clicked the Audio button near the NAV rotary dial and up on the screen came up my music library. Works great. Hope this helps.

When I upgraded my iPhone 3G's iOS version to 4.2, I encountered that "Unsupported" issue as well. I was able to make it work though, although I am unsure as to how I am able to make it work because I do encounter the "unsupported" error once in a while. What I do is, I play a song on the iPhone for a few seconds, pause it, then go back to the Home screen. After that, I plug it back to the USB port. I think that usually works.
Another thing, to play songs thru Pandora, once you have the whole thing connected and a song is already playing thru the speakers, run the Pandora app. It will pause the song playing on the "iPod" and then play the song on Pandora thru the speakers. Hope that helps. |

Tried one of the "fixes" here, deleting the current "pairing" of my iPhone 4 and then pairing again. Didn't get the "Unsupported" notice after 30 seconds. Thought I was done. Shutting the car off and starting it back up later and the problem was back. Whatever got corrected got corrupted again.
