Default Annoying armrest

I suppose it must depend on your own human dimensions and how you like to sit while driving; forward/back, upright/reclined, etc. but how I sit I find the door armrest painful to use.

Sure its a nice leather (vinyl?) covered padded block but there's a hard plastic leading edge that I find really annoying. Has anybody else out there noticed this & more importatnly has anybody done anything about it?

Mine hasn't bothered my comfort. But the "leather" separating from the like forming an increasing number of bubbles has

I find the door arm rest is too far away. I'm not a small guy either.

I am having issues with my armrest as well. The vinyl is bubbling/separating. It is also starting to happen on my center console where my elbow rests. 2009 w/ 22k miles

Default Armrest

I have only had my pilot 6 weeks and I do not drive it on a regulsr basis. On a trip this past weekend I noticed the same thing regardiong the plastic edge. It is annoying.

Little stuff like this makes me second guess my purchase.

The "bubbles" I mentioned in my December post above have now grown to be 4 or 5 inches long. It won't be long until they connect and a substantial area of the material will be separated from the structure. I guess when it gets reall bad I'll remove the lid and take it to an upholstery shop to be removed and re-glued.

Can we see pictures of this? Wouldn't this be covered under the 3yr/36000mi warranty?

Here is a pic of my armrest. As I said earlier, this is from my 09 w/22k miles. It is getting worse as time goes on. I use the armrest as intended, um, to rest my arm! Anybody else seeing this?

I only have 19,000 miles on my 2011 but see nothing like that.

It shouldnt be, but resting on the armrest is probably causing it. Thats not good quality. For me, I lean to the right and LOVE the center console. Couldnt drive happy without that center console so I can rest my arm. Good luck with that.

To clarify, I rest my left elbow on that arm rest pretty much all the time I drive. Bad habit, I know, but it's what I do. I have to suspect that you got a bad batch of pleather in yours. Which in interesting because my wife's RDX has pretty much the same pleather-delamination issue on the center console arm rest. It's a 'known issue' in the RDX world and I think the dealers will replace them without complaint. I would expect Honda to do the same.

I agree, the leading edge of the armrest is a little painful depending on how you rest your arm, I have 10k on mine now, so I guess my arm is just getting use to the jabbing of it during long road trips as i don't notice it as much, bad design on Honda's behalf.
