I fully agree Tim, as I was in the same boat. The MDX just doesn't do it for me.

One great thing about this Navi over others is the fact that the screen will turn off if I do not click the knob. I've had built-in Navi for many years, and this is a first for me.

As for the MDX, Nav wise, it remedies all the irritating things on the Pilot Nav. Specifically, the response is ultra quick when navigating around the menu, or switching stations on XM. And the best thing about it is the iPod integration. Using voice command solves the problem of having a vast library. You can voice search by song, artist, genre, or playlist. It works fantastically.

I will miss the extra room of the Pilot though, and the more rugged feel of it. The MDX is more a tall station wagon than actual SUV. At least I'll always have my father's Pilot to borrow!
I assume you know about our sister site: mdxers.org ?

MDX requiring premium gas was a big minus for me. I liked Pilot's SUV type look over MDX's station-wagon, and I can haul more people and cargo in a Pilot. And most of all I could not justify spending the extra $10k.

The very first Honda dealership I visited had the color and specs that I was looking for, so it worked out pretty good

Very happy with my decision

But those are things you do in every car. I don't have to get in a Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Merc and push the "lawyer button" just to see my radio station. It's dumb and hinders the overall experience in the Pilot.

Or is could just default to the audio screen. That would probably be much nicer. You always have the option to turn it off. I don't like paying extra for that big screen to have it off most of the time.

Oh, the shifter is a lot better on the MDX also. I hate the mini-van shifter on the Pilot.

But there is a separate display for the audio, isn't there? Granted its not as pretty as the nav screen. One thing that trumps all those other car makers' nav systems, is that Honda is almost alone in letting you use the nav system while in motion. My Toyota Prius' audio system is almost useless when its moving. They won't even let you scroll through your iPod songs! WTH! Umm, these things are in cars, you know, machines made for motion.

There is the separate basic display. But, I paid for that nice screen (even if the nav doesnt look too nice on it) and I want to use it. With the screen off, it looks like a giant black hole.

Been there, done that.
Went from 2005 Pilot to 2008 MDX back to 2011 Pilot.
For someone like me with two toddler kids the pilot is more practical.
MDX is more for show and driving experience. The MDX is more fun to drive, but with two kids in the 2nd row how spirited will your driving be?

I just don't get Acuras....I've read everywhere that they are the new Lexus and have overtaken the reliability and engineering of the famed Lexus. Yet they are plain ugly(except for the TL ) in my opinion. I dont think Ill ever find out if they are a smart purchase. If im gonna spend that much money Ill invest it in a Benz or a Bimmer...
