Default iPhone 4 question..

Has anyone connected their iPhone4 to the Pilot's navigation using bluetooth?
The phone's Bluetooth "ON" screen says "searching..." Devices and under that it says "Now Discoverable" below the spinning wheel. Is it just my phone?

If you did a search, you could have found an existing thread on this subject.

Thanks for your quick response Rocky. I started a new thread because we have established that the iphone 4 does indeed work in the Pilot.

My question is - has anyone had bluetooth connection problems with iphone 4 (not 3gs+update)? I'm not able to get mine to recognize the Pilot.

It could be that you just have too many phones connected to the HFL. I believe the max is 5, try deleting one of your stored phones and reconnecting the iphone4.
ps. I don't have an iPhone4 but had a similar thing happen to my 3gs.

Both my and my wife's iPhone 4s are joined via Bluetooth to our car.

The wife and my iPhone 4s connected up just fine to both 2011 Pilot and 2008 RDX without significant issue. If you're having problems, I'd recommend 'resetting' your Handsfree Link in the pilot (I forget the exact sequent of instructions, but press the button and say 'help' and it'll guide you through) and starting again from scratch. The pairing process for the iPhone 4 was identical to previous iPhones for us.

I'm likely imagining it, but I do get the impression that the 4 sometimes takes slightly longer to pair. However, it may just be that it's taking longer to pair when my previous 3g would have had one of its hissy fits and refused to pair at all. That hasn't happened (to my knowledge) with the 4 yet.

Thanks. I didn't know about resetting it, I'll give it a try. I may just have a problem with my phone. It doesn't pair with my husbands blackberry either.

This link, although weirdly named, has the up to date info on Honda HFL. The iphone 4 and most android OS phones are listed in the under testing section.

Most blackberries should work (except the curve)

My iPhone 3gs is not able to locate the device (Pilot).
Wify has the iPhone 4 and dont think the Pilot likes that either.

I had these instructions printed but the iphone keeps looking for 15 minutes and then says "this device is not compatible with iphone".

I tried 2-3 times with everything others have said so far and no luck.
I check the board later to see if anyone has a definitive solution.
btw, Has anyone paired the iphone 4 yet??

See above

That's a definitive as I can be. The iPhone 4 works fine. First, power down and restart your iPhone, just in case. Next, reset your hands free link (I still forget the magic word but press the button and say help, it'll tell you all the possible commands and it'll be obvious which one it is.) Then, go through the standard pairing process. The Hands Free Link voice will do an extra-hand-hold-y walkthrough if you've just reset it, so the whole thing should be pretty easy.

Default Making progress, still not recognizing...

I have gotten a little closer to pairing my iphone 4 today. I get to the point where everything seems to be going perfectly, my phone is "searching" and "discoverable". The phone also can see the "HandsfreeLink TM". I give the 4 digit code to pair with and the HandsfreeLink times out before the phone finds it.

What do I do next?

If you're confident that you've reset the Hands Free Link, then the next step I'd try is pairing a different phone with it, see if that works. If it does, then we can be fairly confident that the problem lies with the iPhone, in which case, first shut it down and restart it (press and hold power button type shutdown) and if that doesn't do it, do a settings resets on the phone. That would be Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset All Settings. If a Reset All Settings doesn't work, and you're confident that the Hands Free Link is receptive (checked with a different handset) then your only real next step is an Erase All Content And Settings which basically resets the phone to how you got it from the factory. Keep in mind that this is destructive and you'll likely have to put all the stuff back on your phone manually rather than restoring from backup. I don't imagine you'll need to do it though, and I suggest you don't. The Reset All Settings option will force you to re-pick your ring tone and a bunch of other little phone settings but won't muck about with your data.
