I want to retrofit projector headlights on the 2010 Pilot. I have only seen HID conversion on reflector housing being discussed. I am creating this topic to discuss retrofitting projectors.

Received a quote from Black Flame Customs, Long Island, New York, cost around $800 to retrofit the projector headlights.
The price include: - FX-R bi-xenon projectors - D2S Bulbs (4300/5000k/6000k-your choice) - Ballasts -All Digital Morimoto - Shrouds - Plug-and-play wiring harness - Fabrication Labor $50 more to use TSX projectors. |

Great, now I know I'm not visiting Long Island, NY with my TSX.
I love watching these videos to see how you guys do it. The big thing for the TSX was halos/angel eyes. Still, I'll wait for Honda to put projectors in the Pilot stock, pray they fit and just buy new headlamps and convert over. I've seen too many people crack the seals, do whatever mod, re-seal... only to have them leak within 2 years. Love modding and have done a ton to my TSX as well, so kudos for being as precise as you can.

Cool idea, but the price seems a little steep.

Im sure Honda will give the Pilot Projectors..Look at the 1st gen model of Pilot. It came out in 2003 and by 2005 they had projectors, new grille, different tails,..I would imagine Honda doing the same as far as the 09 and up pilots. Maybe 2012, it would make sense for a model change at that time.

I just purchased a 2005 Pilot EX-L, and just ordered the following for my retrofit project :
1) replacement oem headlights (used from Ebay) so I can work on these, and keep my originals as backups 2) bi xenon FX-R projectors 3) Philips D2s 4300k bulbs 4) 9003 retrofit harness 5) morimoto ballasts 6) E46 extended shrouds I should be working on this project by next week. I'm a former Subaru nut, and have done 4 TSX retrofits in 06 model impreza's and figured this would be even easier due to the size of the headlight =) I'll be disabling the DRL's as I'm in Canada and my Pilot comes from the USA, and I just looked under the hood in the fuse box and noticed the DRL mod they did in order to import the car into Canada. They ran 2 wires from the headlight RH and LH into the car (probably a switch 12v?). Keep you updated! |

it really depends on the vehicle for me to do a retro fit. For the pilot, i don't really see the need to have to do a retro. However, i did do a retro in my 98 infiniti i30. The stock headlights are HORRIBLE. so bad that you can barely see more than 20 ft. You can put your high beams on all day, and no one will even flash you because you're blinding them. All in all, retrofits are great, but to me, they're not needed on the pilot.

Here is a thread that I want to share from the Honda Odyssey forum (OdyClub) who did a projector retrofit.
ULTIMATE HEADLIGHT UPGRADE: FX-R projector retrofit in progress, with pics I remember back in the day when I still owned an Odyssey, almost took the plunge to do this. But instead, I cheaped out and bought a 35w DDM HID conversion kit. Lighting coverage was superb compared to stock halogens but the overall look didn't appeal to me as it is still housed on halogen reflectors, no matter how everyone would say it doesn't blind oncoming drivers, there is always 'hotspots' on the beam that looks really ugly and cheap looking to me. A couple of months later - I took that kit out, sold in Craigslist, we traded that van and now have our current Pilot . I was hoping the redesigned '12s would have projectors, but as we all know Honda did not go that route. Who knows, one moonlit night I may do this retrofit but the overall time, effort and cost keeps me from doing so .

I'm wondering how the retro fit will be on the 06-08 headlight, would it be just a straight swap out the projector with any FXR/TSX/S2000 projector size with little trimming to fit?
