Pics of the Sky from California Wildfires - Honda Pilot

These are some pics that I took of the sky today in my backyard.

There are currently 2 forest fires burning near me. 1 near Pioneer which is about 11 miles away, and 1 near Kyburz which is about 50 miles away.

The smoke and ash from both fires is drifting down into the Sacramento valley, and causing a "Day After Tomorrow" skyline.

When you stand outside, you can actually see the ash drifting in the air.

We have had a lot of wildfires nearby, but none of this size. I have never seen so much ash from wildfires, this far away.

These pics were taken around 2pm. As you can see from them, everything has a very yellow tint to it. It's really odd.

Looks the same here in Concord. You would think we had Mt St. Helens.

I know! I was annoyed when I came out from work yesterday, and found all of the ash on my Pilot. I just washed it on Sunday.

Although, now I have a reason to wash it again this weekend.

Not too hard to believe...it was even worse this morning than yesterday. Nice pics! We live in Folsom, about 15 or 20 miles from you.

I work in a very open office with about 18,000 sq ft of open space with nothing but cubicles. When I went into the office this morning, you could actually see smoke haze when looking across the office. It was amazing!

My wife took a trip to Target this morning and said the same thing about their store.

I guess the HVAC systems aren't able to filter out all of the particulates, and suck the smoke into the buildings.

Luckily for residents in the valley, there was a slight breeze this afternoon, which took some of the smoke away. Unfortunately, that breeze probably worsened the fires.
