Default Honda Pilot Converted Into a Truck

Hello, I am just another Honda fan.
I really want Honda to make a truck.
I was very unhappy to see their SUT Concept Truck, because I don't think they will sell any.
So I broke out PhotoShop and made my own.
Any comments are very welcomed...

I think the Honda SUT is a better solution (and would sell more units than your idea) for a lot of reasons.

1) The mechanical design of the Pilot/MDX/SUT is more suitable as a passenger vehicle than a heavy hauler, so the second row of seats is more appropriate than the longer bed.

2) The market has moved heavily to "Crew Cab" type configurations for family oriented trucks, so they are hitting a sweet spot.

3) I think the idea of a whole different vehicle is much more appealing to the market than a sheet metal twin.

( the above condensed )

But does it have to look so hideous? It looks like a big hunk of plastic with strange headlights and tail lights. It bears some resemblance to an Element which I like but its not a vehicle that I would own.
By the way, thank you for responding.

1) True - but most people don't pull Goose-Neck Trailers or bumper style trailers with Toyotas, Nissans, S-10s, Dakotas, or Rangers. I would think you
could move your furniture into your new house, pick up your kids bikes, go camping, haul small amounts of dirt or lumber or any number of things that people use trucks for other than pulling a boat.

2) I had plans to make an extended cab version. So I guess I will have to
add a four door to the list of versions. I will probably put a shorter bed on
the CrewCab. I know, that is just like the SUT. But the styling...

3) But the looks... Does it have to be that different? It was stated that the
SUT is already based off of the Pilot/MDX. I like the way the Pilot looks. The
big Chevy,GMC,Ford,Dodge group use sheet metal knock offs. They seem to
be quite successful. Honda loves to make things interchangeable. This would
make a similar truck cheaper to produce. The factories would not have to be
retooled to make significant changes. Imagine the cost to replace one of
those headlights, or even a fender for that matter.

This is not meant to be an attack on the SUT. You provided a good
argument. I felt it needed a rebuttal. I do like hearing your opinions.
Please respond if you have more to say.

I think your photoshop version of the Pilot looks pretty cool. As far as being useful, I'm not quite sure. The Pilot truck looks cool and that's my .02!!

I like it too!
Looks clean and handsome. Maybe photo shop an extended cab? I agree, the SUT is weird. Not Aztek weird and fugly, but a departure from clean Honda looks. More like Pilot vs Element weird. I do like it though, and wouldn't discount it for a future vehicle. Add a V8 to yours an extended cab and a longer bed, and we'd have my next car for sure.

I have to agree with N_Jay on the crew cab style, but I do like your version of the SUT. I do not like the "Avalanche" styling on the SUT photos I have seen.

Shhh... don't tell anybody, but 74PILOTMOM is really a closet Aztek fan!!!

Great Photoshop work, 95_civic_gsr... would love to see you come up with the Crew Cab w/ a shorter bed.

I personally agree with you about the SUT. I stated a while back that all I wanted was a Pilot with a bed. After seeing the concept SUT, I got a good idea of where Honda was going with the design, so I decided to try the Tundra out. The rest is history

AHHHHH! Blasphemy! You just have a guilty consience, since you get to stare at them all day from your office. (Are they still up on the ramps with balloon tied to them???
Maybe YOU are the closet Aztek fan? Maybe they're growing on you like a hideous fungus?
By the way, My all time favorite post was the side by side you posted of the predator and Aztek, rtresco. T'was a good one!

Anyway, back to the photo shopping. Had to clear up the rumor.

I have to agree with others that your version looks simple and elegant, but I prefer the crew cab style of SUT. I also agree that I don't like the avanlache imitation, but functionally, it works better for my taste.
