Default Brand new owner - '05 EX-L w/ RES

Hi everyone. New to the boards here. This is my 2005 EX-L with the rear DVD. Just picked it up 10 days ago after reading through tons of information on this board (totally helped sway me into a Pilot vs competition). Would have photo'd sooner, but it's rained every day since purchase

So as soon as the sun came out I snapped some picks. Probably should have washed it first, but oh well. Coming from an '88 CRX I've owned for over 7 years, this thing is huge! All kinds of awesome creature comforts I've never had before... like cupholders, and back seats.

Future plans include new wheels, possibly mounting an old playstation 2 in the back of the center console armrest, and maybe a hitch.

On to the pics!

Congrats on your purchase!

I have to ask, did you respray it to match your CRX as I swear that was not a color offered (at least in the US) on Pilots

Hehe. The sun was pretty harsh and I was messing around with the color balance and exposure on my canon which resulted in some pretty blown out whites. So I took the images into photoshop to tone it down a bit. I think I monkey'd with the contrast a bit so the red might be coming off a bit brighter than it actually is.

That's the stock paint... redrock pearl? I think it's called. The CRX is also (mostly) stock paint which Honda called Rio Red. When it's clean and shiney it's definitely more pure vibrant red than the Pilot.

Lookin' good!!! Congrats.

Quick question.... What size are the Hankook tires? They look a bit beefier than stock size (235/70/16 stock)

I miss my '91 CRXsi, also rio red. I was the original owner and sold it in Feb '06 with 163,000 miles. The mileage was awesome! At least I have my '91 Nissan 240SX to get me around somewhat economically.

IIRC, the crx got me +/- 29 city mileage and my Nissan gets approximately 23mpg. But, the a/c quick working a little over a year ago and I haven't gotten it fixed

Welcome aboard. Looks like you have a good start already, a good set of tires and a Honda Pilot.org sticker.
Now check out Wilson Wong's accessory pads in case they aren't already there. Also look for CMasten's thread on Courtesy lights. (A second thread is slightly mispelled) It tells which type of LEDs to repalce what with in the Pilot.

The 05 EX-L is the best but then I'm biased. (see below).

2005 Steel Blue Metallic EX-L with iPod P.I.E. X3 interface (keeps the cd changer!!), LED lights in doors and overhead, tow package, cargo shield, crossbars (self installed), WWongs stuff, cargo liner, extended warranty. All but the tow pkg at great saving through our sponsor hondacuraworld.
17 - 24 MPG with mileage removed for both the best and the worst atypical mileages. 183,000 miles since June 29, 2005

Nope, stock sized rubber. Must be the angles playing with the appearance.

I've lost a little bit of the thrifty with the CRX. At 160,000 I swapped the engine out for a DOHC 1.6L ZC imported from Japan. Horsepower went from about 93 to 130, but MPG went from upper 20's to lower 20's. Then again, it's an autocross track car now, so not a big deal

I spied those pads before I purchased the Pilot, and they look so incredibly awesome. Definitely going to pick up a set soon! Hadn't seen the LED lights though, very interesting.

I was really excited about getting an '05 (VSC, sunroof, heated seats) over the '03s that were more abundantly in our price range. I must say though... the '06+ headlights look really sweet. Has anyone ever attempted to swap the front clip (since I'm guessing the fenders/hood/lights aren't a direct fit) from an '06+ onto an '03 - '05?
