Default My new 2006 SBP EXL

Picked up a SBP EXL last night. Right now, only with fender flares, rear splash guards and all season mats but plan to add side steps and probably the OEM crossbars. I will probably go with chrome side steps but I want to make sure before I order.

BTW, I really love the look of the new headlamps on the 06 Pilots!

On the pics, the sun was a bit harsh this morning, but I didn't want to get hit with the "this thread is worthless...."

Oh, and I am probably going to swap out the stock tires for the Fortera Triple Tread or Silent Armor in the next week.

Last shot from the front. IMO the flares lessen the boxy look of the Pilot.

Thanks. I still have the MDX, which is the one I am driving. My wife gets the new one (we are getting rid of our RAV4). We picked it up last night but she drove it home so no driving impressions so far but I love the look of the projector beams (which my MDX does not have). She was driving behind me and I kept thinking "those lights look really cool."

I plan to add air to the tires (looks like they are a little low to me but I have not measured it) and drive it this weekend. From my test drive, I still like the handling of the MDX better (crisper) but maybe this will go away with added air in the tires and/or a tire swap (which I am contemplating). Other than styling and handling (and maybe the leather), the Pilot seems equal to or better than my MDX (of course it's 5 years newer). Eventually I will do a comparison of the two.

Thanks. Yes, I really like the color in person. I checked your gallery re the sidesteps. I also have this one of an 06 from another member here (pic below is not mine) and I think that chrome is probably the right choice. Callling Tim.......

How can I slap people with "The Smiley" when they post such great pictures from the start?

Congrats! Beautilful Pilot!

I was fearful that you would appear at my front door this morning before I had a chance to run out and take those pics! I am not a long-term member but I definitely got the hint!

I am glad you can b/c my wife certainly cannot Actually, if I got a replacement for the MDX at this point, it would probably be something a bit smaller and sleeker but would include the 3rd row for occassional use. Of course, the rumored MDX hybrid might be perfect. Maybe that a re-designed Highlander Hybrid for 07 or 08 would be tempting. But I really am quite pleased with my MDX so I will likely stick with it for several more years.

We just could not pull the trigger on an Odyssey and the Pilot was the next best "family vehicle" for us. I briefly glanced at the Tribeca but I couldn't justify it over the Pilot for our use.
