Hi,
I'm a new member here. Just want to share that I just got a 2005 Pilot EXL [Steel Blue Metallic] this last Saturday [April 9, 2005]. I did the initial negotiation through email bet ween 2 dealers and when I got the price set with one of them, I decided to pull the trigger and made the appointment that saturday. I got the price for $28,742 [including destination fee]]. Did I do good? Please let me know. It's great doing the negotiations through email as there's no pressure to deal with. I'll upload more pictures. Thanks. krblgc |

Nice picture of your new Pilot!
BTW, Congrats and welcome to h-p.org! ps: try to reduce the picture size to 640x640 to fit better.

Hi krblgc...
I just bought a Blue Metallic EX-L last month and paid $300 over invoice (I think invoice is about $29400), so you got a good deal! However, your picture is a bit pixelated. You might want to resize it like john802 said. Here is mine:

Congratulations and welcome!
I think the picture may be bigger than the actual car. LOL!

Don't feel bad, one of my first pics was a beast also. I even tried to be nice and preview it before I posted, but I kept losing the pic.

sorry about the big pic. I will resize the other pics before uploading it here. I just tried to lower the jpeg quality that's why it's now pixelated.
Where's the cheapest for a running board? Before that, I'd like to know which is the popular choice here: Chrome Side Steps or Running Boards? Please let me know your opinion. Do you think a 7 yr./75k miles extended warranty is necessary? Thanks for helping out a new member. krblgc p.s. I already bought Ratso's Chrome Grill accent. Hopefully it would arrive this week. |

Here's a thread for a poll over side steps vs running boards, not specifically the chrome ones though...
Side Steps vs. Running Boards I don't have either, yet! but seem to prefer the running boards. As for where to buy see this thread... websites for OEM accessories So far I have purchased from FairHondaPartsForYou, CheapestHondaParts & HandA-Accessories. All 3 were great just watch the shiping costs depending on where you are located.

is $550 over the $28,446 Consumer Reports estimated dealer wholesale price (after Dealer Holdback). You did great! I purchased mine through a broker who doesn't need to keep any inventory like dealers do. No sales pressure at all. I'm getting my next car though a broker.

So anyone think the extended warranty is necessary? Anyone here from the 2003/2004 buyers that bought them and actually used them?
So far I've logged 140 miles and I'm loving every bit of it. It's night and day compared to the driving of my CRV [I still have the 2000 CRV-SE]. It's just so roomy inside and I feel small. all the pockets and cup holders are great. One thing I need to get accustomed to is the location of the windows controls as it's entirely different in the CRV. MPG is not that great for now [probably 13 mpg]. I expect it to be better as I log more miles into it. Can anyone share their breaking-in tips? thanks. krblgc |

it was a bad ventilation system BigDogDad brought up another good point with fairhondapartsforyou I forgot, outside of Connecticut there's no sales taxes. Good prices (better than what I've seen), nominal shipping costs - you can't go wrong. The customer support is good, too. I hope I'm not out of line by quoting a note from WWong, but his running board was marred when he received it. Customer support had him return it without question and they paid for all of the shipping costs. As far as extended services go, it's really an insurance premium your purchasing. If something goes wrong, your extended warranty will cover it. It comes at quite a premium - dollar-for-dollar their making more on extended warranty than insurance companys. Consumer Reports discourages readers from buying it. Now, it's not to say there are cases where you purchased it and you run into $3K worth of work over time. The odds are you might not with Honda's reputation for building quality cars. At the expense of her commissions, my broker discouraged us from buying it. We purchased an $800 extended warranty on our '94 Accord, but it came with a guaranty that if we didn't use it we would get it back after 5-years. What that did was make us avoid using the extended warranty if it was minimal work and it gave the dealer a 5-year loan. My vote is not to buy extended warranty unless you feel you need some insurance.
