Default possible fuel problem? where should i start?

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot and my wife recently rear ended someone. The damage was minimal only the plastic part of the front grill broke but no real bad damage from what we could see. Then about a week after the accident we ran out of gas on accident. 2 days after running out of gas the engine light came on. It is the the solid orange light of the engine in the dash and the manual said it is emissions related or possibly the fuel cap. Today I noticed after my wife left that there was a good amount of either gas or oil in our driveway. We just got emissions done right after the accident and the oil appears to be ok. It isn't low at all. Where should I start?? What could it be best and worst case scenarios? I'd prefer to diagnose and fix myself if possible to save funds.

Thanks

Find out the malfunction codes (some auto parts stores read the codes for free). Figure out which is leaking - gas or oil (check the oil level to see if it drops). Look under the vehicle and hood to see if there is any obvious leaks.

Thanks. Went to the auto store and got code P0420. Still not sure about the leak but it looks like it was because we ran out of gas. I put a bottle of sea foam in it and filled the tank with premium. Will see if that fixes it and watch for leaks.
