Question 2005 EX-L Alternator Removal? Pull add'l parts?

Hello - long time member/reader. Saw similar threads over the past few hours of searching, but not one specifically addressing my question:

2005 EX-L. Alternator is needing to be changed (died a slow death) and while I've done 2 alternators on prior vehicles on my own, this one also looks very easy minus the lack of space to work. On the '05 is it recommended to remove anything else to make it go faster/easier? Fan shroud? Anything else?

Thanks in advance!,
-John

I don't know what else needs to be moved, but I know you can tear down pretty much the whole motor with a 10, 12, and 14 mm wrench and socket.

Be sure to disconnect the negative battery cabl enforce beginning.

Thanks. No matter how hard it might be it can't be as bad as my old PT cruiser radiator though. ~6-7 hours...

Tackling the Pilot alternator tonight.

Thumbs up

It's all done. it wasn't totally horrible but the lack of space plus the mega tight fit of the new alternator into the main mounting point probably doubled the time it should have taken.

I'll post a few pics, observations, recommendations soon.

Pilot run and drives like a champ now.

Edit: 125k miles. First symptom was a battery light. Autozone test tool said "failed starter" and "failed alternator". My guess was the lower voltage caused the "failed starter" message. It starts quickly and perfectly every time. Last symptom was a mess of dash lights starting with the abs light. Then a host of others until it totally died. Got it towed home under insurance and did the fix.
