Default Steering and other issues

Howdy folks, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
We have a 2005 Pilot EX with 128,000 miles on it. We have recently noticed a weird rubbing/squeaking/grinding noise coming from the steering column when turning the wheel. This is complimented by a pretty loud whirring sound coming from under the hood. Could this be a sign of the steering pump going bad? Also the pulley at the top of the belt is squeaking Could this be the tensioner and idler pulleys?
Engine light on and getting a P0420 code. Could this mean time for a new Catalytic Converter?
Car has been good to us and paid off so putting some $$ into it would be better than a new one. Any ideas how much is DIY'able? I am fairly handy if I know what I have to do.

First off, lets check the fluid levels under the hood. Even a Honda will only go so far without the necessary oils and coolant.
Yup said oils and coolant, while you are there, check them all. Now top up any low levels.
Have you had the TB replaced? The accessory belt and tensioner should be replaced at the same time. Replaced the spark plugs too?

Thank you for your reply. I did check all the levels and they are good to go. The Belt was replaced about 40K miles ago along with the spark plugs. Not sure about the accessory belt and /or tensioners. Forgot to mention the Airbag/srs light also just came on along with the TPMS light after replacing a faulty unit..dohhh
Dashboard is starting to look like a Christmas tree. grrr

Check your bill If Accessory belt and tensioner was not replaced, do it now. The latter loses tension causing the belt to slip and not drive the alternator, and other accessories its powers.

Just checked, last major service was at 108,000. Timing Belt, water pump, timing belt actuator and timing belt tensioners, sparkp plugs, serpentine belt and front struts! Looks like accessory belt tensioners need to be next!
