Default Driver's Side Map light - not working???

Ok, the driver's side map light does not work when the driver's door is opened...but does work when you push it and manually turn it on.

I replaced the bulb and had no change.

Has anyone had this condition?
2005 EX-L with Nav
about 105k miles

(Is it the driver's side door switch causing this?)

Thanks!

Hey, I've got this problem too. Just been living with it as a minor inconvenience. Hoping for a simple solution.

I had the exact problem. It's actually a fairly common problem for all Hondas that used the same lighting base. It's related to the contacts to turn the light on when the door is open.

I fixed it by replacing the part (34404-SDA-A21).

Here's a thread that discusses it:
Dome light problem

The part runs about $35-40 if you order it online.

If its only the driver side light that doesn't come on, and all other interior lights work when you open the driver door, then the door jamb switch probably won't fix that.

There is a micro switch underneath each lense of the overhead console light.

When the switch goes bad, the light won't come on.

You can remove the lenses, and remove the entire console with the light housing. You can then remove the micro switches, spray them with some electrical contact cleaner. It has helped me in the past with an Acura that had the same issue.

If that doesn't help, you may be able to find replacement switches at the dealer.

Thanks for the tips.
I will take a look at this over the weekend and see what I can figure out.

My switch went bad. It is an Alps switch and was only a couple bucks at Mouser.

I had this problem and it is indeed the switch. Make sure to order two and replace both even if you find only one to be the problem.

I ended up putting in a new center dome light assembly and it fixed the issue.
I did try this: Honda Ridgeline Owners Club Forums - View Single Post - One push button light above dash only works when pushed but not when doors open

But it did not fix the issue.
Sorry for the late reply, thank you all!
