If you can handle the price tag. Michelin's are very difficult to beat.

I highly recommend the Michelin LTX M/S2 in the 245/70 16. I've had these tires on our 2006 for a about a year. Very quiet tire, with excellent handling in both wet, dry and snow. After a year and about 12k miles they don't look they've wore down any. I had the Bridgestone Alenzas before and they were terrible at half life and had them pulled off for the Michelin's. I would not recommend the Alenzas.

245 was a personal preference, it's a slightly wider and taller tire. IMO, it just looks looks better as I thought the 235 was too small for the Pilot. I did not see any change in gas mileage by going with the wider tire.

Do the 245's work on the stock wheels?

We got 100K miles out of a set of Michelin Cross-Terrains.
Hard to beat cost wise on a per mile basis. Too bad they don't sell them any longer.

For 235/70R16, the LTX M/S2 is a better choice over the Latitude Tour because the Latitude Tour in that size is Ford OE with less tread depth than normal.
For 09-11 Pilots with 245/65R17, the Latitude Tour is a great option and it got fantastic braking and tread wear score from CR. Those are the tires I'm going to get soon for my 11 Pilot. |
