Default 226,000

I have an 06 EX AWD pilot with 226,000 miles on it, 80% of those are highway miles original motor and transmission, nothing major done yet, all recomended and required maintance were done by the Honda dealer, I bought it really cheap 5 months ago from my boss who used to be in the real state business and used to drive 4-5 hours a day on the highway, I bought it with a check engine light ON with a P0420 code, sounds and drives as smooth as the first day he let me drove it for a test drive Lol.

N Jay, I have a 2003 with the same mileage. I am getting a very slight racing between 2 and 3rd gears on an occasional basis. Seems to occur more often when the car is cold. I am thinking of trading it in before it gets worse and has no value. May I ask if you traded it in at the dealer or sold privately and what you received for the car. Thanks

I have a 2003 EXL with 385,000 miles. Original owner.

Original tires got to 120k miles. 2nd set got the car to 220k miles. 3rd set go the car to 320k miles. On 4th set now.

Original engine still running strong.

Original transmission was replaced at around 220k. Transmission was replaced by Honda Service with a warranty of "unlimited miles for 3 years". At around 320k miles and 2 years and 11 months, the second transmission started slipping. I brought to dealer and they honored the warranty and replaced the transmission which is current.

The car has never broken down on me. It has never been towed. Each transmission gave signs of slipping and these have only been the only major repair done to the vehicle. I think the cost of the Transmission work was under 4k. I shopped around and could have spent $2,300 but with only a 1 year 12k mile warranty. For the 4k I paid honda, I basically got 2 transmissions for the price of one.

80% highway miles.

IMO, the Pilot has paid for itself based on the beyond acceptable reliability. Cosmetically the car has its battle scars but the heart is still strong and I hope to get to the 400k milestone soon.

what? they replaced your tranny at 220k miles? what kind of warranty is that? are they still going to replace it at 385k miles? you must work with Honda or have a very persuasive mojo to do that.

I have a 2003 exl res with original engine and tranny now at 208k miles I think or higher. no issues. replaced inner drive shaft boot on the right. they said my oil pump gasket/seal have a leak but didn't notice it in my driveway-i'll pass.

He clearly says he paid $4k for the 220K first tranny replacement. The replacement failed and they replaced it under the replacements 3 yr warranty.

Just turned 205K this AM on my 2004. No major problems. Original engine, tranny suspension. Engine control valves seemed to go koo-koo at around 195000. Replaced the Idle controller, exhaust gas recirculator valve. I had a nagging and persistent "hard to start" problem that totally went away when I replaced the EGR valve. I blew about 2 grand chasing that one when a 250 dollar valve was the apparent issue. Stay awy from Bernardi Honda in MetroWest Boston if you can.
