If you're doing the fluids now and getting it up to snuff, it should be fine. Everything else sounds cosmetic. These are stout cars.

On price, private part sales are typically mid-way between wholesale and retail. Take off perhaps $2K for deferred maintenance and another $1500 for cosmetics, and I'd think the car would be worth about $3500 off the average price.

Not groking how you have invested money in the car but haven't agreed on a price. You probably know this, but I'll say it anyway: be very careful of doing business with your own family. No better way to develop hard feelings has ever been invented.

What Nav? The EX didn't have a Nav and I think you had to move up to the EX-L to get the option for one. Do you have leather too?

Pilots are no gas mileage champs. Unless you can get it out on the highway, 15 mpg is depressingly more or less the norm. The sticker said 17 city when the car shipped, but later the EPA re-evaulated and downgraded all the Gen 1 Pilots to 15 city. Which is about exactly what I get. On freeway trips, I'll flirt with the low-20's if I can keep the speeds reasonable. At 80 mph, back to 15.

Mark,

Thanks for the thoughts.

The oil has been changed regularly and I found a receipt for the 30k service done by the dealer.

The issue about doing business with family has already reared their head a bit. Hopefully it won't get out of hand, but my wife has a number in her head of what she thinks the car is worth and is perfectly willing to walk away if one of her siblings objects.

Yes it has leather so is an EX-L. From what I remember the only option it doesn't have is the rear seat entertainment package.

Luckily we don't drive much anymore so the mileage doesn't scare me off. My wife has put less than 30K on her car in the last 5 years so the mileage will be acceptable.

Saying that, we would be driving this car more than we drive her Sienna. I've given my son the Element that we used to do all our bopping around in because I don't like driving the Sienna. I bought a S2000 for driving to work and my wife is not fond of riding in it. (I love it)

thanks again

chris

Here is the latest on the 05 EX-L

We flew down to Baton Rouge the week to pick the car up. I've got some work to do in the area this week so it made sense for wife and I to come down.

Had the chance to look the car over today and it needs a lot of cosmetic TLC. Lot's of scuffed paint, the armrest needs replacement and the headliner is drooping in a couple of spots.

But it runs very good. My wife worked out a very good deal with her brothers so it's a win situation.

How sensitive is this car to alignment? I had it aligned in the summer when we where down here and it's been minimally driven and it's drifting to the left again. Maybe it wasn't done right. I need to find my paperwork to see if I can get them to straighten it up.
My son flies in next Saturday and we will be driving to Atlanta to do a college tour with him at Georgia Tech followed the next day in Columbia, SC for a tour of USC.

We will drive into the WMA next wednesday.

thanks to all for all the help.

cheers

chris

So it turns out to be a 05 Pilot instead of an 07 originally? About pricing should be just a bit higher than the dealer trade-in price is acceptable. I live just 1hr away from baton rouge, and I have seen peoples selling their Pilot on craigslist for close to 6months without any luck... So most end up with trading in...

No ideas they were asking under kbb 13-16k range, all were 2WD, wasn't able to find any good 4WD around.
