Default Front Dome Light Issues - but different

Hey guys, first post...but I have already learned a lot from you guys by searches. I am having a front dome light issue, but it's different than all the ones I have seen in the threads. My issue is that when the car is running, I can't turn on my front map lights by pushing them in. When the key is turned to the acc position, they will turn on when pushed in, and back off when pushed again. They also illuminate when I turn the switch on the consol to lights -whether in driving or in acc position. IN other words, if I'm driving down the road and want to use the map lights to read...say a map...then I have to use the consol switch to turn on all lights (and all come on including the front ones). I can't just push the one front light on. So it's not the microswitches because they will come on and off by pushing the lights when not driving. Do you think ordering the $60 electrical board will do the trick like others have bought for when one light illuminates and the other won't?
Oh, it's an 06 Pilot. The other thought I just had was, is this a safety feature so you don't turn on the front lights while driving?

Between the door switch, microswitch and dash switch, there are plenty of potential reasons for this to happen. Oddly enough my 05 when through a similar experience.
It fixed itself after I experimented with all the switches just by cycling them on and off.
