Little backstory..My wife and I had a 2001 Chevy Tahoe which we loved and had absolutly no problems with in the 3 years we owned it. I few months ago a friend of mine approached me with a proposition about trading his mother my tahoe(136K)for a 2005 Buick Terraza cxl awd with 74K. I did a little research and figured that this would be a pretty good deal we would get a newer car with a lower payment etc, etc.. Long story short this thing is a complete nightmare and my wife hates it.
I have been looking for an 04-06 Pilot EX-L (with RES) with under 100K for around $15,000 and found a 1 owner 05 EX-L with 82,500 miles that has been honda serviced on time since new for $15,889. I will be picking it up later this week and trading in the POS Buick. I am on the fence about adding an aftermarket warranty. If I do I can only afford to get the basic power train one for 3 years. This would cost be an additional $1500. My past experience with honda has always been great and I have never needed anything other than maintainance to keep them running strong. Out 94 civic lx had 242K on it before we gave it to my wifes little sister. So, I am just looking for a little advice here as I have been reading that the transmission for some has been a issue. Thanks in advance! |

Really?? This is the best deal I have found. The closest Honda dealership wanted 15,999 for an 05 ex-l with 97k a few weeks ago and it sold before I got to look at it.
Another Honda dealer wanted 12,500 for an 04 ex-l with 109k and the thing was beat! I thought this one was priced pretty well especially considering the shape it's in. I was asking for peoples thoughts on the aftermarket warranty really, but thanks for the input. |

The worst I have ever done is break even with what I would have spent on a warranty. That was 5 years after I bought the vehicle.
All the financal papers say forget them. If you took the warranty money you would have paid on all your vehicles and put it in the bank .... you could buy a lot of piece of mind with that bank account. If you are writing off the warranty fee, I would perhaps think about it. If not set up an account and save your money.

step up and find a good '06. some trans shifting issues were fixed that year.
FYI, I found an '06 LX with alloys. 27k miles and absolutely spotless for 18,900 external transmission and power steering coolers are a plus. |
