Smile Transmission Cooler on 06 Pilot

I was thinking of installing a transmission cooler on my pilot. Looking at the install instructions for the OEM unit, looks like it gets installed inline with the original cooler in the rad.
One of the reason to install the cooler was to try and eliminate the rad cooler since some owners have had problems with it corroding and mixing cooling fluid with AT fluid.
Did I look at the instructions incorrectly?

Nope, the one in the radiator is also used to warm the fluid in cold weather. In a warm climate I would just bypass the radiator, but I'm chicken to do it in cold places. I think many of us are going to be replacing radiators soon as preventative maintenance.

Good Day , I put a Tru Cool 4589 (8x11x1.5 inch) AND a B&M external Filter ... Duhhh how dumb is a none servicable filter. And people rant on about HONDA. I have not had any issues with the Rad cooler , I put mine in-line.
I guess I would wonder about the coolant quality and whether it is the right match for the rad if there is that much deterioration going on.

I would not waste your money on the factory cooler, real small.

Every Pilot owner should put an external cooler and filter. Not sure if this design changed on the new ones. But for older models this will certainly extend the life of the transmission.

PS - Don't do a cheapy install and attach it to the condenser... build a frame in front (lots of room behind the plastic)

Enjoy

OK , after reading on this topic more. Next summer I too will look for a quality rad and replace the questionable product in the pilot. I will hit about 160,000 km (100k mi) ,,,, OH JOY
