Front dome light issue

My front dome lights won't turn on when the doors open and yes the switch is on! When I push the drivers side one it will turn on and off! I thought I had a burnt out passenger side one but when I opened the lens, it flickered and then I took it out and out it back in and it worked fine and when I opened the door the passenger side came on, but not the drivers side. That only lasted a couple of times and now I'm right back where I started. I did a search for this problem, but couldn't find anything! Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Have you checked the switch on the door jam to make sure it isn't sticking, corroded, etc?
