My 2003 Honda pilot tail gate will not latch when I close it I have tried to adjust the latch on the floor. I have also lubed the lock and door handle hinges. Everything is moving freely and appears to be working.. When I messed around with the handle I got it to latch but can't seem to get it to latch again. The lock will lock when
I close it by hand and pops open with the handle. Anyone have any ideas |

I would suspect that either or both the lever and latch are so full of crud that only heavy lubing is needed. Soak them both really really really good.
Also have seen on other brand of car the latch goes out of sequence and fails to allow the door to latch. Use a screwdriver on the latch to open/reset it. Good luck!

The latch moves freely and I soak. It with lube I used a screw driver to move it to locked and unlocked. It seems like the latch has 2 position push it towards the locked position a little and it will stop but not lock and can pull it open with the screwdriver and then if I push it all the way in I need to use the handle to open it. I may try replacing the handle and cable they seem pretty cheap idly it still doesn't work I'll try and replace the latch
