Default Honda Pilot 05 key dead

So my wife's key suddenly stops working so I thought its another old battery but changing it still wouldn't work. I took my key battery and placed it in hers still doesn't work. I don't want to spend alot of money and I searched the internet and there are websites that sell the key. I read that you have to program the key and it seems super easy. Then I read about the imobilizer. is it possible to get a exact same key but just swap out the panel then program it so I don't need a locksmith to cut it . Also my wife talked to the dealer and he said you need the new one with the none broken one to reprogram.
I was wondering if It is all correct before I buy a new key from a website. Also can anyone suggest me to a website to buy a key from... Thanks In advance

In order to answer your question, you have to be more specific about exactly what is not working with your key. I assume it's not the blade itself... so it's either the remote portion of the key or the immobilizer. They are separate components. One lets you unlock and lock your doors... the other lets you start your car.

So can you start you car??? Is it just the remote that is broken? If that is the case, then yes, you can buy a new key and just swap out the remote part of it. You would then just reprogram the remote to your car which is pretty easy.

If it is your immobilizer, then you need a locksmith or dealer with the proper programming equipment to program the new immobilzer chip into your vehicle.

Hope this makes sense...
