Default Is $569 for timing belt service @ dealer a good deal?

I just got a coupon in the mail from the local Honda dealer for a $569 timing belt package special. It includes timing belt, water pump, accessory drive belts, coolant & labor, 40 point inspection, wash & rinse, battery test and free vehicle history report.

Yay or nay?

It's pretty decent. You should also ask them if they're going to change the cam seals too.

For $569 it's a good deal. You should call and ask what the price is if you brought your own parts in. You can get the Gates timing belt kit for a lot less money and it's all OEM. They use the OEM/Koyo pullies and Gates makes the OEM/Honda belts (called Unitta in Japan).

Their kit with the water pump (labeled TCKWPxxx) is something like $130-$180 from rockauto.com depending on your year, but also includes the OEM hydraulic tensioner. The only difference from OEM is the water pump. It's Gates own brand instead of the Honda/Yamada brand that on your car now. It would save you some money and replace even more parts (pulleys and tensioner).

Don't worry about cam seals. They are not wear items. They can fail or they can last forever. Replacements are just as risky.

I would say it is a good deal...However, I was able to get it done for $400 after my local Honda dealer agreed to price match this Hamilton Honda deal.

It includes timing belt, water pump, drive belts, and coolant.

the term "good deal" is relative. I did mine in the driveway for under $100.

Well yeah. I mean you can buy the timing belt for $25 from an online Honda dealer and change only that if you wanted to. That is if you already had the pulley holder tool.

Hamilton Honda in South Central NJ is doing them for $500 on 04-08 Acura TL's (more expensive parts than 03-04 pilots)....including the $75 hydraulic timing-belt tensioner:

I got my timing belt changed at the local dealer for $624. The next Honda dealer wanted $769, which didn't include a sepentine belt and the other belt. (not sure what it drives) My dealership did all drive belts and they said I didn't need the tensioner, which they said was $140. I found it online for $109 retail and $72 at several online stores. In the end, it was $699, minus the $75 coupon. The only complaint, my anti-freeze resevoir was empty, which I filled at home. All seems good.

Good, deal??? I would say that's a great deal. I paid 800 for all that to get done. You only have to do that every 100k so why not? For some of us here not everybody has all of the time in the world to do it themselves. Even though Im new in this forum doesn't mean that I dont know anything.

You have to realize that you only have to do this every 100k. And I doubt that majority of you guys keep it past 200k anyways. To me it's worth it knowing that I will be keeping it until it either blows up or I get into a wreck.
