Hello fellow Piloteers! My wife and I just purchased our first Pilot, it's a 2006 EX-L with navi, 76000miles...
We have a 4 month old and have been having a difficult time with my mustang, getting the baby in and out.. plus my wife doesn't drive a stick... After much much research I've decided on the Pilot as the vehicle to entrust my wife and son to travel around in. We bought it two days ago and my wife loves it.. I find the steering to be a wee bit light, but it doesn't bother me. What bothers me (and I searched the forum for this problem but haven't found any similar posting) is the subwoofer booms on its own, even with the volume all the way down. At first I assumed some young kid was booming the latest rap song or something, as that is how it sounded, really deep and low.. but when I powered the radio off, it went away. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there any way to remedy it? I've tried turning the bass gain down but it does it even with the gain all the way down, as if there was some sort of phantom signal... maybe our pilot is haunted :-P |

The speaker isn't blown because it sounds fine when I crank it up. I might just have to unplug it if I can't figure out how to remedy it, as its not a pleasant sound for a 4 month old to listen to. |

Deep Humming Sound at 55mph It seems like you are one of the lucky ones... because A LOT of 2006-2007 2wd pilot owners are having this issue... Unfortunately the thread died in 2006 and no one has a conclusive fix for this issue.. other than just cutting the power to the ANC unit... |

Is it a 2WD or 4WD? As I recall, only the 2WD models with VCM have the ANC feature. Sounds like a blown sub-woofer to me. You can just unhook the damn thing - it sounds better without it. Still not very good, but no worse.

It's a 2wd, so it has the VMC and the ANC... the sub is not blown, it actually works very well, from my reading Deep Humming Sound at 55mph the ANC is faulty and is generating a deep tone to cover up ambient noise generated by the engine when it goes into "ECO" 3 cylinder mode, but is over compensating... so it sounds like I have 20 subwoofers in the trunk..
The only remedy I've found online so far is to unplug the ANC.. no one has mentioned unplugging the subwoofer but I will give that a try. |
