Default Remote start

I saw a few threads talking about remote starters but not sure what to get. Now Its for my 2005 Honda Pilot EX. My questions are will I have the motor shut off when I open the door/unlock the door etc and have to restart it?
Will I still be able to unlock with the buttons on my key?

Is this system any good? Not looking for something super fancy just something to get my car going in the snow so its warm.

hey what's up..

when you activate the remote start, the engine will run for a set time, usually 12, 24, or 60 minutes. the engine will continue to run until the timer shuts it off, or until somebody steps on the brake.

the way it works is you start the engine remotely, then when the vehicle is warmed up, you unlock the doors, put in the key and turn to "run" position, then step on brake and shift into drive.

if you step on the brake without turning the ignition to run, the remote start will kill the engine.

you will be able to use the factory fob in addition to the remote start fob, but i highly recommend spending a little more and getting a new fob with integrated lock/unlock and remote start.

Is this the same thing that was refurbished? Viper 4202V 5301 (Refurbished) My father was a mechanic and is an Electrician and Engineer so I think we would be able to install it. Since I just bought the car Im a bit strapped for cash so this would be a good option?

yeah, man, that's the one. Great price, plus 3yr warranty! I'd go for it.

Do those 5301s use a bypass of some sort? I forget the actual name but the part you put the valet key for the immobilizer.

A write up install for that would be great. I must admit, the $99 price got my attention real fast.

Hello Everybody
Not trying to highjack this thread, but I was also thinking of installing a remote starter on my 2012 Pilot. Dealer advised me not to go with the stock, because it’s too expensive, instead, they (the dealer) and my neighbor who is a mechanic, told me to get Audiovox APS-901. It’s simple one way starter. I was wondering if anybody had any bad experience with this product.
Thank you in advance

yes, you need a bypass.

i use xpressparts.com PKALL - you don't need to put your valet key in a box. it learns your transponder bypass. also, it includes unlimited free firmware upgrades.

Default 2006 Remote Start

Would this be the same diagram for a 2006 Pilot EX-L with Navigation?
Thanks,
Rick
