Our 04 Pilot had a tire low, so I took it off and did a visual inspection. The valve wasn't leaking etc. So I went to the local tire store and they assured me that the rim was corroded around the bead causing a leak. I ran into this last year with my 02 Toyota Tundra, which I ended up replacing the wheels with newer Tundra wheels. Sure as s__t, they poured a water/soap solution and it bubbled up around the bead!!! $24.95 later, I was good to go.... for how long????

What did they do for $24.95? Test the tire with soap/water?
Or did they actually dismount the tire, take a wire wheel to BOTH inner and outer beads, replace the valve stem, and re-mount and re-balance the tire? Because if they didn't do that, you're likely to have another leak. |

I use a scotch-brite pad and WD40 to clean the rims before I mount tires on a motorcycle, but don't mount my own car tires. It does a good job of cleaning off any residual rubber and surface corrosion.
