So i just got got a 03 pilot ex-l, w/rear entertainment system, the kids were all excited, and there was no sound. I tried the aux jacks, and the wireless headphones. There is no sound output on any of them, whether it's playing a dvd or radio.
So before i go tearing this car apart to pin test it the wires, does anyone know of a common solution to this problem? Just trying to save myself from unnecessary work. |

Is it a Factory RES unit or aftermarket? Sounds like Factory but want to be sure. The Factory DVD player is located in the center stack and matches the other components.
Assume you've read the owners manual. The DVD system confused me at first and I actually had to read it. When you turn the radio on and insert a dvd (Music CDs work as well but copies of films don't always seem to work), does the system respond by switching the DVD on. Do you get Video on the screen?

It's a stock system, i have read the owners manual, the dvd was an original, and i tried several, and I do get video on the screen, but no sound out of the headphones, whether it's playing radio, or dvd. And I've tried the wireless headphones and the aux jacks

Were you in the 2nd row when you tried the headphones? My headphones will not work in the driver's seat, but they do work in the rear seats.
Good luck! Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app |

Sounds like you have been thorough in your investigation. You also have a gripe against the seller since the system was not working.
Will the DVD play through the regular speakers? Trying to see if we can isolate the problem to the DVD player itself or to the head unit. Can't Get DVD Audio Over All Speakers And from another Honda forum http://www.odyclub.com/forums/9-prob...headphone.html

I was in the back seat, when i was trying the wireless headphones. If i read the owners manual correctly, the only thing you can play through the rear speakers, is front entertainment. as soon as i turn on the dvd player, "rr speakers off" icon comes on in the radio, and from what i've read-that the way it's supposed to work. I think maybe they changed that in later years.
