Default Does Canada DRL affect Wiring Driving lights

I want to add driving lights to the pilot, triggered by high beam.

Can i just tap into the high beam or does the DRL circuit power the high beams at reduced voltage enough to trigger the relay.

This was a problem for me on my Dodge truck (they uss a pulsed voltage to run the DRLs so i had to add a switch to disconnect the circuit) this is OK for me although i have forgotten before but my wife will not want to remember to turn off the switch.

I did a bunch of searching but could not find the answer to this.
