Default Who's Pilot Is It anyways?

I've read quite a few maintenance threads and the most common thread in these threads (how many times can I say "thread" in one sentence??) is that most say.. "It's the wife's".

I'm no different. My Pilot is driven primarily by Nobette. It was, however, bought as the family vehicle as the main source of SAFE transportation for a family of 5 plus a dog.

It is a great truck for that and having room for 8 is a bonus.

It replaced a GMC Safari that was T-Boned at an intersection.

So who's the primary driver on yours?

I drive mine. My wife wouldn't be caught dead driving anything this closely related to a minivan I know, I know, the folly of youth.

Why didn't I buy a minivan, since I'm the one driving it? At least in part because she'd have divorced me if I did. I know this because she repeatedly said 'I will divorce you if you buy a minivan.' She's a direct woman, I'll give her that. That and I wanted a Ridgeline from way back when they first came out, so the Pilot seemed like a lovely amalgam of the two vehicles.

Our Pilot is the family hauler at night and on weekends, but Beloved can fit both kids in her RDX during the week days, so that's what she does.

We've had a bit of everything, sedans, land yachts, full size Chev van, GMC Safari, GMC diesel pick up, Civic, hot rod...but never a soccer mom van. Wife feels the same way about them as yours does.
And the Pilot is our first 4wd SUV...or SUV of any type.
I love it...especially in the snow.

It is a family hauler for us but my wife drives it mostly. I take the wheels on weekends. It is a lot different than my DD, a 5 speed 2001 BMW 530i which needs struts now. Once I tried to change lane like I do it in BMW and my balls came to my mouth. However I appreciate the VTM4 button, whatever the real 4X4 crowd says, it can easily pull one out of 2 -3 feet of snow.

I guess I answered more than was needed, lazy sunday noon.

Regards,

My pilot is MINE. I change the oil, I hand wash it and I paid for it. But yes it's basically a family hauler.

Lol by the same token I clean, change the oil and fix most mechanical problems on my brothers SRT8 cherokee. So I guess that one should be mine as well, but he makes the payments .

In my case the Pilot is our 3rd car, both the wife and I have our own daily drivers, both smaller and more fuel efficient. We use the Pilot for weekend family trips and to tow our ATVs. We both paid for it, and we both pay for its maintenance, so its really "ours", not mine or hers.

The Pilot is the wife's but also the family hauler. I have a Crosstour which can haul the family if need be but we bought the Pilot because of the space it has over my Crosstour so we're using it. Oh BTW - though the Pilot is "hers" I still find myself cleaning it after the wife and kids dirty it up.

Hers for work but since it is our family hauler I drive almost exclusively when we are all together. I love it compared to my dinky '04 Civic...maybe I need to trade in for a '12M and have two in the family...
