Default reverse wire? '03 Pilot

So I bought the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT In-Dash DVD Multimedia AV Receiver and it's running well. Then I decided to buy a back-up camera for it. So I bought the one they recommended, Pioneer ND-BC4 Universal Rear-View Camera. I got in on the tailgate and ran the wire up the right site and it's all tucked away. I got the ground and 12v wires hooked up fine for the camera. Now the problem is getting the receiver to work with it. There is only one wire left not being used on the receiver it's a purple/white reverse wire. I'm stumped on what wire on the pilot I hook this up to. I've looked all over the forums to try to find this reverse wire. One post said on the passenger side panel there is a sky blue connector with a green/black wire. So I tapped into that wire, but that didn't seem to work. Can someone point me toward the reverse wire?

You're talking about the connection that tells your h/u to switch to its review camera display when you shift to reverse?

Looks like you have it. From Kenwood DNX5120 Installed with Pics

The reverse wire can be found in the passenger side kick panel. The green/blk stripe wire should be in the 24-pin light blue connector at the bottom of the passenger side fusebox. In addition, you can tap the same wire at the reverse relay as well - you'll have to unbolt the driver's side fusebox to gain access to the relay.

Test the grn/blk connector inside the wiring harness plug with a voltmeter to make sure you get 12V when the ignition is ON and the transmission is in reverse.

Can you please confirm that my red wire is tapped onto the green/black wire you speak of. Because it's still not working and I have tested the grn/blk wire and it always shows 12volts regardless of if the car is in reverse or not.

The wire you tap needs to show 12V when the trans is in reverse (reverse lights are on), and 0V when it's not. If you're getting 12V all the time, then you have the wrong wire. Also test the tap itself to make sure you have a good connection.

Well ... I believe I'm tapped into the wire some people have described that I need to be tapped onto to. Sense that didn't work my next option is to get to the reverse relay behind the driver's side fuse box. Then tap into the green/black or white wire and see if that works.

Or test all the wires in that light blue connector until you find the one that's 12V in reverse.

Instead of tapping into several wires.....just use a test light with a good ground and test to see which wire in the light blue connector has 12V of power when in reverse.....and only in reverse.....and if not there.....then use the same proceedure behind the fusebox.....

I tested every wire in the light blue connector. They all stay the exact same voltage whether in reverse or park. So then I went looking around for the reverse relay. Never did find it, but most of bumped something as then my SRS light was constantly lit in the panel. So then I use the paper clip trick and got rid of the SRS light, but when I reconnected the MES plug something must have shorted as now my car won't start and is acting goofy. So I had to tow my Pilot to an automotive shop. I tried to talk them into hooking up that reverse wire while they were at it, but they said I'd have to take it to a stereo shop, ugh. i just wanted this done and over with. I'm more inclined to just take it to stereo shop and dish out the money rather then accidentally messing things up again. If someone has some exact instructions on how to find the reverse relay then please post. All I have to work with right now is this.

I tapped the grn/blk as I mentioned above in the bold text. Problem is, there's more than one grn/blk wire in the light blue connector. I can't tell exactly, but it looks like the one I tapped has gray dots on it and is right next to the red/blk wire, on the right side of the connector. (See picture, it's the wire going into the blue Posi-Tap.)

ok, thanks for your help! I will check this again when I get my car back. I may have missed seeing a couple wires on the end as the connection was so tight. I'll have to unwrap some of the electric tape and take a further look.

This may be an odd thought.....but why can't you just tap into the backup lights at the tailgate?....since they will only light when the vehicle is in reverse.....

I thought that too, but then he'd have to run the wire all the way to the h/u. Now to get power for the camera, that makes sense.

Default what did you do?

Im something similarly the same to my 2007 pilot EX NO NAVIGATION. HOw do you get the plastic molding off? What color was the wire.... was there 12v when not in reverse? or is it the opposite??

By the way what happend to the vehicle when you towed it? Hope nothing catastrophic.
