I've used Walmart brand oil filters for 10 years and never had an issue in 250,000 accumulated miles spanning 6 vehicles. My criteria is strict; Walmart has to have them in stock, the filter has to state it meets OEM standards, and it has to spin onto and seal against the filter boss.

I've used Walmart oil for 10 years as well. Similar strict standards, plus it has to have that little star burst thingy, plus I like blue containers.

Therefore, that makes all other oils and filters by supposition, inferior. Fram filters, it goes without saying, are junk. Why, I hear the media disintegrates and the filters fall off the car all the time. Actually, I fib, as I bought some Frams on sale once and the engines didn't seize, the oil light stayed off, and the filter was still on there 7000 miles later (oops I revealed another habit).

How about we talk about superior gasolines next? I use Walmart (Murphy) brand as it has been without comparison for 10 years. Why do I use it? Close and cheap. Never let me down yet. I think NASCAR uses it, too, although possibly in a higher octane and sponsored.

BP's gasoline is contaminated with salt water (by logical deduction). For sure, drive on by those stations! QuickTrip has excellent gas, and the $1 hotdogs don't influence my opinion in the least!

I'd talk about transmission fluid and differentials, but that annoys N_Jay. It is Sunday.
Hot damn, that may be the funniest throw-away post I've ever seen on a car forum. Well done that man. Well done.

(So says a man who just carefully sourced and ordered a dozen Honda A01 oil filters to go with his stockpile of Mobil 1 5w20 What?!? I may be a smidge neurotic, so sue me!)

Valvoline FullSyn and Purolator PureONE fileters for me -

89 Civic DX (bought new) 404,000 miles and still runs
93 Civic Si - (bought new) 279,000 miles going strong
03 Accord V6 - (bought new) 85,000 and going strong
07 Pilot EX - (just bought it) 85,000 and going strong

No oil related problems with any of them, the 89 civic has a leaky oil pan gasket, the 93 runs well, no leaks, same with the AV6 Accord and the Pilot... BTW - religiously change the oil and filter every 3000 miles....

the only time I have seen oil related problems in an engine were in vehicles that were heavy duty fleet vehicles whether construction equipment or fleet trucks(mainly diesel) but it was more engine wear than anything with vehicles that get over 300kmi or hours equivalent to years of use, new filter new oil every 5k or so and you should be fine, this is coming from dealing in the automotive aftermarket for 10+ years

Walmart stopped selling Super Tech oil filters, my cheap and reliable choice up till now. I am moving up in price to Denso 150-1009, bought in bulk from Rockauto.

I agree with N JAY, I buy on sale filters only and I now have 172,000 with no issues.

I noticed that too. I've been getting Purolator Premium Plus and Quaker State oil filters (both when on sale) now.
