Default Power steering fluid

I just put on power steering cooler on my honda. When I drained the reservoir, the fluid was color very dark. Is it normal? Read the manual doesn't say when to replace fluid? Should I? How to?

Dark is bad.

Fill with new, and re-drain.

How many miles?
Any towing?
Any of the drivers like to hold at lock when parking, backing and such?

IIRC it should be refilled with new fluid every 2 years regardless of mileage.

Good thread on changing it out.

Remember to take a peek the screen in the reservoir to make sure it is not plugging up.

I like to just use my oil extractor to suck out the old fluid. Makes for an easy drain and fill. Mine looked like used motor oil at 77k miles. By the 3rd time I did it, the fluid looked very clean again.

It's 08 with 16k.
Towing 2000 lb trailer twice. Total is about 300 miles for both trips.
You know how the trailer newbie backing it up

Do Honda have ps fluid in big volume? I read from the link above, the needed fluid for drain/fill is 1 quart?

In fact, after replaced one oz of fluid when installed cooler, it makes noise sometime. Now I know because I didn't turn clock to clock enough.

I don't know about the whole system, but the reservoir only holds about 8oz. I just did several drain and fills until it cleaned up. Power steering fluid is cheap.
