BS there built to OEM Specs. Honda don't build their own motor mounts, brake pads, batteries and a bunch of other stuff. I have owned and worked on Hondas since the late 70's. When it comes to engine, trans parts Body panels and most glass, yes stick with oem.

what is the best way/angle to snap a good picture of the mount?
above or below the vehicle? Do I need to remove anything?

To check the front mount open the hood. Have someone get inside and start the engine. Put the car in drive and hold the brake down. While standing to the side of the engine have them give it some gas. If the front mount is bad you will see the engine raise up then drop down when you let off of the gas. If you have a hand on the fender you may also feel a thump as the engine drops down. If your fluid is leaking out of the side mount it will look like there is some rusty water on the frame. Also if you change the front mount I would suggest that you replace the side mount. A couple of days before spray all bolts with penetrating oil so they will break loose easier. The frame bolts are really tight. The side mount can be changed without jacking up the engine. Remove this first and leave off until you finish the front mount. To replace the front mount loosen and remove all the bolts and top nut first. There is one that's really tough to get to. Next, I got 2 jacks and put a block of wood on each. One under the oil pan and the other under the transmission. Some people only put one under the oil pan but being make out of aluminum I didn't want to push my luck. You have to jack the engine up enough to clear the motor mount. No hoses will have to be removed. It's a tight fit but the mount will come out from the top between the motor and radiator on the driver's side. Put the new mount in place and put the nut loosely on the top. Lower the engine down slowly. Don't get alarmed but the mount will look like the holes on the bottom are way out of alignment. But the more you lower the motor the better it will look. When you get the motor all the way down stick the bolts back in then install the side mount. Your done! Go out to dinner with the money you saved.
