Default Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) Eliminated?

Has anyone heard info about changes or elimination of the VCM system in the near future? Have there been any problems? In theory it should help fuel mileage. Also, is the 3.5L V6 engine an interferance engine or not? Ive seen it listed both ways. In general from what I read on this forum the 3.5L (J engine is current?) seems to be pretty reliable. Any problems I haven't picked up on? Just wish fuel mileage was better. Daughter and Son-in-law have a 2005 Odessey and 2011 Pilot and they pretty much just drive them with minimum service. Wife and I are thinking about a Pilot or Ridgeline in the future to replace our 2004 Tundra Access cab. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

VCM is here to stay on V6 engines though it seems to be alot of engine tech for minimal benefits.
Honda's 3.5 V6 is interference.

All Honda engines are interference engines. Change the timing belt at 105k miles and you won't have any worries.

I've owned 1 Tundra & 3 Ridgelines. ('06, '08 and '10)

The Ridge is a better truck. Better ride, better mileage. Trunk really rocks. The Tundra had a bit more power - but not enough to warrant the higher fuel cost.
