Default Kill: 08 Mazda 3 hatch manual

My friend has a 2008 Mazda 3 5mt and we got bored so we decided to race. So we did the 3 honks thing and i had the pilot in "1" and off we went. I heard its i4 trying to keep up as it caught 2nd and i put the pilot in "2". Until I hit "D3" we were neck and neck and then i started to pull him. In the end we hit around 85 and i had put 2 car lengths on him . Good race, now i need to do it from a dig.

BTW...why does no one race their pilot?...and why is there such a negative attitude here toward anything performance...it is a honda with VTEC..if u guys wanted something less sporty, why didn't u guys get a Tahoe or something?

Im sure i'll get flamed for this, but I dont care, it was fun

check this out:

Honda Pilot vs EG Hatch with ITR swap

Honda Pilot vs Chevy 350

according to the video poster, the Pilot was modded with nitrous, intake, a test pipe, and 400lbs of weight reduction.

There's not really a negative attitude on performance mods. It's just that 95% of Pilots are family vehicles. Why does my wife need a turbo to transport my daughter and her girl scout troop around? I certainly am not going to spend money modding a vehicle that will never see any performance driving. If you want to, then go right ahead and do it. There aren't many performance mods sold for the Pilot for that same reason - there is very little market for performance mods on a family hauler.

jl_ss is right. 95% of people (including myself) buy pilots because of its practicality and utility, not because it can go 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. aside from that, i think the pilot is too bulky and heavy to turn into a serious racer. don't get me wrong, i'm sure that if you invested enough time and money fabricating mods and tweaking the pilot, it could actually be a legit race machine. but why go through all that trouble when you can buy an S2000 to play with on the weekends

i didn't get a Tahoe because it was more expensive, worse on gas, not as reliable, even bulkier and heavier than the pilot, and of course, it doesn't have VTEC!

Well, of course we've all secretly raced our pilot's at least once for fun. Of the 3 cars ive raced, ive won 2 and lost 1.

1.) 2007-ish Dodge Ram "Big Horn Edition"....this guy thought he was the $hit in his Dodge. From a dig, I put about 3 car lengths on him by 65

2.) 2004-ish? Ford F150 (Modded, I dont know what though) This guy had HUGE hood scoops, and aparently some exhaust (or maybe it was just gone. LOL) Again, he started revving it at a stop light. Put at least 5 cars on him by 70.

3.) Brand New (Temp Tags) PT Cruiser Turbo. Modded w/ CAI, Exhaust, and the turbo seemed to be different sounding than a stock one. He put approx. 2 cars on me by 50, so I just gave up...

Regardless,
The pilot isnt a race car by any means, but for a 4500lb Family Hauler, its definately a beast.

Edit: rlapid: That white paint is amazing, will most likely look at that for the next MDX/Pilot!

i used to own an 05 civic that i lightly modded with bolt-ons (cai, exhaust, etc). i also had a stock 82 trans-am that was plenty fast out of the box, and i had a 99 passat turbo that had a chipped ecu, and that was also fast. i revved on other cars alot looking for races, and i won some and lost some, but i realize now that it was incredibly stupid, and i'm lucky i didn't hurt someone racing, let alone myself.

there is a time and a place for racing, and that is at the track.

be safe. take your pilot to a strip and run in a grudge match. it's fun, and safe.

i feel old

Exactly, that is why my husband and I fab our own parts for our 2003 Pilot. WE have made a CAI for it. We rebuilt our engine and trans on it and powder coated some of the engine parts. WE are also getting a pair of Projectors for the 03's as well. A friend of ours is making them. When we get the money we are going to make a dual exhaust for it. Once we do our research on the new Acura's that are coming out with manual and AWD we may be converting our Pilot to that.

Is the same thing witht he Accord's it's a family Sedan but no power what so ever. So we have made that work as well for a bigger Liter engine, etc.

TO be honest I would love to have a supercharged Pilot is we can do the above with keeping the AED and make it manual.

Some of us do it and some don't and liike you said basically to each their own.
