Default Tow package and gas mileage

I am looking at buying a used 2007 Pilot with 21k miles. It has the Tow Package. Does anyone know what is included in this package? Does the package effect gas mileage and if so about how much? Thanks.

Welcome to HP.org and congrats on your new Pilot.

A simple "search" will yield info on what the package includes. This function is your friend and will save a lot of repeated information and redundant threads on our great forum.

In the interest of full disclosure, it should be stated that the search function, as search functions go, ... how should I say, ... SUCKS!! (But yes, please resort to it first, anyway.)

I don't have the tow package but I've considered it. It consists of the hitch (without ball), wiring harness, transmission cooler and power steering cooler (I think that's it.) The parts will run between $500-600. Roughly, double it with dealer installation. I've never heard of it affecting mileage and I can't think of a reason it would.

Some tow packages (Chev Blazer) include a lower ratio rear end. If Pilot's does not there is no reason to effect mileage and the coolers would probably help since we live in the mountains of NC. Thanks for the info.

It only adds a couple hundred pounds. It would affect your mileage the same as carrying you PLUS another person weighing 200 pounds.

I haven't noticed any difference in mine.

This is a dealer added kit, not a factory option.

Sorry, but it sucks. For one thing, the search field has a 26 character limit, So you can't search for an expression longer than that.

I don't know the logic it uses but it appears to only search for single words, not containing spaces. That's it. No quoted strings, and forget about Boolean or regular expressions. Also, you can't just search thread titles.

E.G., if you search for the string "Goodyear Integrity" (including quotes), you get a list of threads that contain either of those words. Then, you have to search the individual threads manually. What it should return is links to the specific pages that contain ONLY that exact phrase, initial caps.

Like I said, it has always worked fine for me - as well as many others that are continuously looking things up for new members that "pop in" for a question WITHOUT bothering to do a search first. Granted, it may not be the best one out there, but "sucks" is a bit rash. All I ask is that people use it and not start thread after thread with the same questions.

Ok, we agree that it should be used, despite our disagreement on its level of suckiness.
