Default Tail Light Performance Lighting

Being the silly Americans we are, we like red turn signals in the rear of our vehicles. Many of us know that red is difficult to see in really bad weather and can be mistaken as a brake light or a warning light--but not as easily seen as amber lighting. The Acura MDX's (previous generation), as well as previous generation Honda's have amber turn signals. Has anyone taken their stock Pilot turn signals under the knife and added an amber lens or amber LED lighting to help add lighting safety to the back of their beloved Pilots? Just curious. Thanks!

That's an impossibility in a 2003-2005 model because the whole lens is red. It may be done on the 2006+ with some ingenuity, but I don't think it's worth the effort. IMO, the weather would have to be pretty bad/inclement in order for the vehicle in back of you not to see your turn signal blinking. I'm not sure how the blinking turn signal could be mistaken as a warning/hazard light. That is unless both sides were blinking at the same time.

Consumer grade LEDs are still generations behind what car manufacturers can make in terms of light output.

That's an interesting comment about LED's. Cadillac makes it work all red, and commercial trucks have amber LED's. Interesting why more auto manufacturers aren't using LED's.
