Airlift 1000 install help

I am fielding questions from the dealership on the installation of the air bags...I guess there is a difference on the various products out there (Airlift, Firestone, etc) on how to deal with the existing bump stops? Does anyone have a photo of the rear suspension after removing the bump stops? Is everyone cutting off the existing bump stops or is there a way to remove them to avoid sharp edges (if that is an issue)

Please respond as soon as you can...I have the air bags and I am in a holding pattern on installation.

I plan on installing my airlift 1000 kit tomorrow, and I plan on cutting the bump stop. If you just remove it, I do not believe that the airbag will reach the upper contact point (there will be more space w/o the shortened bump stop).

The bump stops bolt in, so If I ever decide to remove the Airlift kit, I would just order new bump stops. Part number 52722-S9V-A04. They cost about $25 each.

and just cut them off then took a file to the stops to smooth out the sharp edges. Also cut the hole larger on the lower control arm and placed a rubber grommet around it to avoid the sharp edge for the air line.

I just received my airlift 1000 and I noticed that the template is for an odyssey. Does that apply to the pilot also? Should I move the hole right in the middle? Where did you drill exactly?

I drilled my first hole following the template then drilled a second hole (making an hourglass shape) closer to the center. then filed out the excess.

by the way, a sawzall with a 6" blade made it very easy to cut the bump stops.

Thanks, Mike. My pilot's rear end is a little more than half an inch lower unloaded and I have been contemplating whether I should go for new springs to preserve the ride quality or lift it and hopefully find that the constantly firmer ride will turn out better. I am also afraid that replacing the springs might show no change since the pilot only has 32000 mi and the springs are probably not worn out which will mean that the uneven ride height is normal to the pilot. Hence, the decision to go with the airbag for a sure difference.

I do not tow anything and I would have pulled the trigger on this faster if not for the cutting and drilling. I used an airlift years ago on a windstar and all I needed to do was insert the bag inside the springs and pump away with no other mods needed.
