Default Transmission Ratios

I've seen questions in various threads about tranny ratios, so here's what I cribbed from Honda's website:

DRIVETRAIN 2004 2007 2007
2WD 4WD
Ratios: 1st gear 2.563 2.422 2.693
2nd gear 1.552 1.565 1.565
3rd gear 1.021 1.023 1.023
4th gear 0.727 0.782 0.782
5th gear 0.520 0.595 0.595
Reverse 1.846 1.888 1.888
Final Drive Ratio 4.428 4.375 4.375

Sorry, it doesn't want to display right for me.

1st clumn is 2004, 2nd column is 2007 2WD, and last column is 2007 AWD.

They did lower (numerically) the final drive ratio, but raised (numerically)the 5th gear ratio for the newer Pilot. Which explains the higher revs at highway speeds for the new Pilots.

Thanks Zarba, I always wondered what gear ratio our Pilots had. It still doesnt feel very torquey with 4.38 gears.

That's because to feel the effect of 4.38 gears, you need to be in D3 mode, which has a final gearing of 4.48 due to the 1.023 3rd gear ratio. When you are in regular D mode, the final ratio is 2.60 due to the .595 5th gear ratio. To validate that, you will also notice that at 70+ mph you are only pulling 2000+ rpm, which wouldn't be right with a true 4.38 gear ratio.
