True, instant on is tough too. Thankfully, in NY all the staties pretty much just leave it on all the time (KA band) and use very little laser where I am. I had ONE local hit me with instant on recently but they pretty much leave it on all the time too. Radar detectors are still amazingly effective.

For the record, I have not had our 06 over 105, so not sure about the cutting out, but 109 sounds right.

Now, to continue the stray...
I have found that traveling in lanes other than the far left help considerably (when possible) because Texas officers tend to be in the median and tend to be targeting the lane closest to them. I have had many times that I have a vehicle between myself and the officer's line of sight, which renders his radar gun useless. Now, that is not a 100% approach, because if I am passing the guy on the right and the officer gets him at 10 over, I am busted too...

Most often I find that if I am paying attention to traffic in front of me (looking for brake lights), I usually have an idea of when to slow down. In Texas, you can go about 9 over with no questions asked, usually...
