Swap mufflers?

Has anyone done this, or read about, or heard about someone swapping out the dual exhaust muffler from a 4WD Pilot to a 2WD Pilot?

Is it worth it in performance to do so?

What sort of performance gain were you looking for? I don't see how that could change performance. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

I don't know, that's a good question. Perhaps I should have phrased the topic: why do 4WD Pilots have dual exhaust and 2WD Pilot only have a single exhaust muffler? Is it merely cosmetic? Or is there a performance gain?

Based on the amount of replies - I assume no one has justified the cost of making such a swap. Just curious, really.

There wouldn't be any performance gains...and if anything <1HP. the only way it may be different is if the dual outlet exhaust had a vacuum operated butterfly in one outlet like some nissans, BMWs have to open up and close at certain RPMs. But Its merely cosmetic. My question is..why does the oddysey have a better exhaust note than the pilot? hmmm... :-/

Hmm. Seems like the bang for the buck is not worth it then.

Haven't really heard the Odyssey's "roar" but I have to say that the Pilot's exhaust note is really sedate compared to my Jeep Commander's.

I'd like to try mounting up the MDX dual muffler set up along with a better Y pipe up by the engine.

The Pilot's exhaust does sound really wimpy. I'm used to the noises that my Ridgeline makes, it sounds rough and ready! The Pilot sounds like a 3 year old girl squeeling and screaming from a bruised knee in comparison. Its almost painful to my ears to let it wind up.

Hey Cool, dig your old school Apple avatar...

However, I wouldn't say the Pilot's like a squeeling girl. It's just kinda comatose compared to my Jeep. It's interesting that almost all the domestic SUVs I've driven (Chevy and Jeep) their exhaust tones are more coarse and deeper. Guess they're made to sound more "manly".
