Thumbs up Its been a while but i guess its that time again (HONDA PILOT MEETS NITROUS OXIDE)

well guys haven't posted here in a while but i have a 03 honda pilot EX with about 68k on it and its been running strong since day one. been on top of my mantenice and all and i thought it would be fun to insult some of the local kids out in the hangout spots of ventura county, now before i get flamed i want to say that i know the risk involved in street racing and such along with the serious power adder on a family SUV....(got flamed about 2 years ago when i raced that celica GTS) for the rest please enjoy the mid 13 sec SUV vid/ vid's

03 EX no options, 80 wet kit, custom CAI, custom cat delete...
93 civic EG hatch, fully gutted, ITR B18C5 swap. race was for 100 dollars

got him pretty bad and yes he was very upset.

I watched it twice and laughed out loud both times. Thanks!

How long did you spray and when did you start/stop? It sounds like you were revving in gear and holding down the brakes for the launch, what RPM did you launch at?

You should go head to head with your wife driving the STi and you driving the Pilot

Wow! I loved that...hahaha! I would love to see that thing at the track in during daylight and see people's reactions. Btw, how did you launch that thing? Also, your tranny is holding up to all this abuse?

Nice work though.

So one question I have is - did you still have the AWD gear all in place and active? Reason I ask is that an AWD vehcile with enough HP will always have an advantage, especially off the line, and that's what was obvious to me in your video.

There was this sort of celebrity competition many years ago, and one of the competitions was a drag race. The compeitors could choose any car they wanted from a set of GM vehicles - including camaros, firebirds and Olds Bravadas. So who in their right mind would choose the Olds? Because it was GM's only AWD system at the time, and even though it was a V6 in an SUV vs a V8 in a sort of "pony car", the advantage off the line was difficult to make up over the remainder of the 1/4 mile course. And many of the celebs figured that out over time. Was interesting.

Anway, cool video!

Talking NICE..!

I have owned an Pilot for less than a week and found this site... Prior to posting I just spent a day or two just reading... I found a post by "Pilot's Wife" and read how she was bashed for doing a CAI.. The number one question she got was why make a SUV Fast... I guess no one has heard of the Typhoon and Cyclone or the Ford SVT Lightning..!

When I posted a question about a CAI, the first reply was Save your $$.... My first thought was why have a Performance section if when someone questions about a Performance bolt on we'll be told NO, Save your money..?

PLEASE do not get me wrong. I LOVE what I've seen here and like the info I've gathered here..

I'm glad to see the potential behind the Pilot... I still have under 200 Miles on mine but have been looking at Greddy Cat backs. I have an Old Reactive Intake from a Camry I had, that I'm looking to adapt to the Pilot. I really wish there were Headers avail for us but in time..

A CAI only helps at WOT, and even then - it only helps a little and only on some applications. So yes, 99.98% of the time, the advice to save your money is spot on. What you have in this thread is a user who has provided a video demonstrating the other 0.02% of the time. He's at WOT and spraying...so yah, a CAI probably helps some.

We are not anti-performance at hp.org. Many of us own and drive other vehicles that give us that rush from acceleration...and there was an overwhelming curiousity sparked when one owner posted that he had installed a blower on his heavily modded Pilot. If you regularly drive at WOT, then by all means, fabricate and mod to your heart's content. If you don't, then you might be better off spending your money improving another aspect of your Pilot (handling, convenience, cargo management, towing, etc).
