Default Need for Speed...

Hello everyone,

I am one of those poeple who just cant get enough power, and in the case of my pilot I feel it doesnt have enough. Although the pilot does have a considerable amount of pick-up, this is someone who's other car is a RSX type-s. I am just looking for an ECU reflash or new exhaust, cold air, any other performance product. I just simply dont know where to look. I am also wondering how wide of a tire the pilot can take without the use of a spacer. I would guess 8 inch but im not sure.

-Thanks for your help,

CAI would be a good start. I understand what u mean, I had a '04 TSX.

But with Pilot, it's more of a family oriented car anyway. The most I will do to it is probably K&N filter.

You're comparing the performance of a car to an SUV that weighs over two tons?

It isn't designed for speed or handling. If you want to haul a six people, a trailer and luggage, then drive a Pilot. If you want something to get you from point A to point B the quickest, then drive a sports car (unless point A is separated from point B by an unpaved road).

Once you start modifying the Pilot for performance, you'll start losing things that make it an excellent SUV.

This topic comes up every few months and someone inevitably tries to throw cold water on it. I don't think he was comparing his Pilot to his RSX-Type S, but just saying that like a lot of people he's interested in modifying his Pilot. Some people might think modifying it for performance will make it a MORE excellent SUV... Just my 2 cents...

I too am interested in performance parts for the Pilot.

I have added some toys to my CRV, but I don't expect if to perform like my Acura.

Thats on annoyance about SUV's that are not domestic. Most of the accessories for the GM, FORD trucks can be used on the brother SUV and is seems there is just more truck guys that want to mod, and the wifes make them get SUV instead of a truck.

That seems to be a bit optimistic... I would guess that real world examples will be closer to 7 seconds (Edmunds got 7.1 when they test drove it).

I bet if they put the Pilot's V6 into a CR-V, they'd get similar performance.

Another nice thing about the new RAV4 w/ V6 is that it is supposed to get 20/27 mpg.

One thing to note is that the new RAV4 is 849 lbs lighter than the Pilot. The front and rear seating is about the same as the Pilot, but it has less cargo space and a lower towing capacity.

The price looks like it'll be similarly to the Pilot (possibly higher). In other words, if you're willing to give up some cargo space and towing capacity to get higher performance and better gas mileage, then the RAV4 might be for you.

It'll be interesting to see how it'll affect sales of the Highlander.

Yah, but remember - they eeked something like 7.8 seconds out of the Pilot. Maybe if you revved it up and dropped it into gear at high-RPM with a 90lb driver and zero cargo/accessories.

well, wait until the RDX with Turbo comes out. New CRV should be coming soon too.

But this is a need for speed thread seeking performance mods so I assume the drivers looking for that will drive much more aggressively than most.........

The RDX having a turbo engine is just a rumor. Honda doesn't have turbo on any of their vehicles, so why would they start with the Acura RDX... a brand new model that isn't proven? Remember, Honda is fairly conservative when it comes to their models.

It'll be interesting to see what Honda does with the new CRV. They'll have to start offering a V6 in it if they want to keep up with the RAV4.
