The reason is most likely less side wall on the 18's so they are stiffer than the 17's. Honda may have changed up the suspension on the mid-model refresh of 2012 but they didnt tell anyone about it, which would be strange since this would be a selling tool on the remodel, so i doubt they changed anything to do with the suspension. Also, the ride is actually quieter on the 2012 vs 2010. This is most likely due to the extra sound insulation on the 2012 and the type of tires now OEM.
remember the sound was louder on your 2010 because it had the Goodyear Fortera HLs which are known for road noise, has nothing to do with insulation, simple tire change would have remedied that. Same with Handling, depending on how worn your tires are, has lot to do with handling and noise, so ....

Well, I changed the OEM tires on the 2010 touring ( Michelin LTX) to Bridgestone Dueler H/L alenza. I had these new on the 2010 for about 2 months before tradeing into the 2012 touring, so, i was comparing new 17 inch rubber of the 2010 to new 18 inch rubber of the 2012. And, by my memory i found the Alenza's where a little quieter than the LTX's when they were new. And the Alenza's also handled better than the LTX--new vs new.

Besides, Honda has stated that they have placed more sound dampening material in the 2012-13's as part of the MMC. Just quoting them and sharing my real word experience. The 2012 with 18 inch rims handles better than the 2009-2011 with 17inch rims. Thats my story and i'm sticking to it.
