Gentlemen,
I have found a nice set of Acura RSX 5 spoke rims I want to use on my 08 Pilot. Im wondering if the TPMS for the 08 Pilot will fit these rims? Or are they back on Craigslist? Thanks! |

It would be dangerous to put rsx wheels under a pilot. They aren't build to handle the weight of the vehicle.

The max weight capacity of the wheel will be listed on the inside of one of the spokes.
Typically, any given OEM wheel will carry between 650-1200kg, each. Do some math, and you'll quickly realize that a set of wheels can easily carry several times the vehicle's gross weight. OEM wheels are typically overbuilt and much heavier than an equivalent-sized aftermarket wheel. There is nothing special about a Pilot wheel vs. an RSX wheel. You will be fine to use these wheels on the Pilot provided that the weight rating on the wheel is greater than or equal to 1/4 of the gross weight of the Pilot (figure 5,500 lb, or 2,500 kg). As far as the TPMS sensors, I would highly recommend NOT attempting to "swap" them to the new wheels. First of all, they might not fit exactly right, and you risk destroying them by simply attempting to remove them. I run my summer wheels WITHOUT TPMS sensors for half of the year (aftermarket MSW wheels that were from an Acura TL sedan, FWIW), and the worst thing that happens is the "TPMS" light comes on every time you drive. Hardly noticeable. |
