Excuse me if this has already been started. Didn't find it.
For 2012 with the new 18" tires, any discussion on the best size winter tires and wheels? Would the offset, brake size, etc. be the same as for the 2011 so that 17" wheels off a 2011 or that would fit on a 2011 work for the 2012? |

Get a set of the 17" steel wheels used on the LX version.
Tire choice depends largely upon the road conditions you typically encounter. Are the roads mostly snowy or mostly icy? Do they ever get cleared down to bare pavement? Do want to have the option of studs? Also, are you willing to trade off handling/steering feel for ultimate traction? |

I am set on the tires (studless Blizzaks). Have used for a long time. Working to understand the fitment of the rims & TPMS. It looks like the 2011 and 2012 LX steel wheels carry the same part number. It would seem that the 2011 and 2012 wheel offset and backspacing is the same and across all trim levels. The next question is the TPMS sensors. The TPMS Honda part number is the same for any trim and for 2011 and 2012. Question; are the TPMS sensors "self-learning" or do they need to be programmed if new sensors are used?
For tire size, i am considering stock LX size, 235/65-17 from the 2012 or stock 2011 size of 245/65-17. Last edited by Makdc; 11-03-2011 at 01:52 AM. |

The 235/65R17 size would be a better winter tire size to run than the 245/65R17. First, it will help keep your speedometer reading correctly and second, narrower tires are generally better at cutting through, water, slush and snow.
My system shows that your vehicle will Autolearn your TPMS ID numbers after vehicle has driven for over 40 seconds at 15mph. Steel wheels from a 2011 should fit your 2012 without any issues.

Decided on stock size, 235/60-18 and these rims (18x8" 45mm offset). While I like the look, not 100% sure on the rims as there is about a 5mm distance between the caliper and spoke. Perhaps a wheel where the spoke is closer to the outside portion of the rim, like stock, would have been better.

I just bought some General Snow tires on my 2007 Pilot EX and they run great on the dry pavement. It has the same tread as the Gislaved I used to use on my Volvo. Im eager to try them on the snow. Oh and I should mention they were rated very high on Consumer reports and they run very quietly, even more so than my summer tires!
