Default tire sizes for 16" alloy wheels - load range C or D

I drive a 2003 with stock 16" alloy wheels and stock-size (235/70-16) tires. I need to upgrade to load range C or D tires, because the logging roads that I frequent are graded with very sharp rocks that cause flats.

The tire choices for load range C or D are limited in 235/70-16 to only the BF Goodrich A/T. I want more choices. What other tire sizes can I consider for stock 16" alloy wheels? I'd prefer to keep a similar overall tire "look" in terms of size.

Good to see a Pilot being used in tougher than normal conditions. I don't think you should worry so much about the load range, C will be plenty. Just understand that the ride will be harsher with the heavier load range.

In the same 235/70 side, BFG makes a MT. The BFG AT is a good tire but the voids in the tire quickly fill with mud leading to loss of traction. 225/75-16 is also the same overall diameter and that size offers many C and D tires with strong off road credentials.

Also look at 245/70-16 as well-but that size doesn't offer many off road orientated tires.

Don't ignore something like the Cooper ST tire. I had good luck with Cooper tires off road, and had no issue with losing one to sidewall damage after three years of off roading-because it was so much cheaper than the BFGs

I would also recommend that you run with a full size tire and take a can of fix a flat with you.
