Default Replacing Stock with Unique 297 Steel

Thinking of replacing my stock rims on the '05 with Unique 297 from Discount and then mounting 245/70/16 Grabber HTS. Any thoughts? I love the look of this rim and gives it more of a "truck" look. Would the weight difference between the stock wheel and the Uniques be that much different? Thanks for your help.

The stock tire weighed 27lbs per Tirerack (I thought it was more!). The Grabbers weigh 35lbs. That change alone will be noticeable with heavier steering, poorer braking and acceleration. The larger tire will adversely affect mpg. Typically people going from the OEM GY loose 1mpg or so with any other brand tire. You will probably loose a bit more.

Can't give you any help on the wheel weight. Have you considered having the current wheels powder coated?

The tires on now are Michelen LTX 225 something. I don't remember. These were on when I bought it used and now they need replacing. Basically my goal here is to fill the wheel well better so maybe moving back to stock size would make me happy, but also I love black rims. How much does powdercoating cost? What's the down time since I'll need to be driving my Pilot around most days?

Would be impossible to powdercoat unless you had a second set of wheels. You need to take the stocks off, take to tire shop, have them remove the tires, take rims to powdercoat shop, takes a few days, and then go back and get tires mounted and all that. A week at least I think.

I just posted a thread/pics on the 18" black rims I got with tires for dirt cheap. Tons of small tire/rim shops here in San Diego willing to wheel and deal if you have cash. Spending big dollar at Discount Tire or somewhere isn't that necessary.

Tommy, always a great idea to include the link to your thread.
